Coding and Robotics Club

SACS launched a Coding and Robotics club in January 2022.  Membership is limited to 30 boys from Grades 9, 10 and 11.  Lessons are on Friday afternoons for two hours.

Students will learn the following:  Arduino microcontroller theory; digital and analog input and outputs; automation and system integration; fundamentals of circuit theory, processing data, and automation; programming logic – function and code management; electronic theory and implementation of infrared sensors, buzzers, temperature sensors, servo motors, and water pumps and Python fundamentals – variables, program flow, debugging, loops, functions, libraries, and basic games.

Each boy will receive access to a robotic kit and an online learning platform and the course will be facilitated by the IT staff. There will be a certificate of completion. Three years of tuition are on offer – Beginner, Advanced and Master.

The following criteria will be taken into account for admission to the course:

  1. Basic programming skills (Scratch/Python/Delphi/Java).
  2. Maths and Science Marks (Above 80% required)

The course fee is approximately R4000 for the first year, with the 2nd and 3rd year costs very similar.
